Lucy is a lovely border collie mix, born 11/6/22. She has the perfect combination of intelligence, high energy, and affection. We think she will be a great addition to any active household, and should be fun to train and a great candidate for activities like agility, parkour, nosework, tricks... the possibilities are endless! Lucy needs an experienced dog person who can be her partner and leader through life. She tried to move into a family with another dog, and developed resource guarding behaviors around food and toys, so we're recommending she be the only dog in the home. These resource guarding behaviors were also beginning to spill over to her interactions with her humans, hence our desire for an experienced dog person who understands resource guarding and how to help a dog past it. She is housetrained and crate trained. Her activity level is very high, and she would love to go-go-go with you on your daily adventures! Her family tried to get her to take two daily "naps" inside her crate, for 2-3 hours each time, plus sleeping in the crate overnight. Although Lucy was perfectly willing to spend that much time in her crate, we suspect the lack of stimulation may have exacerbated her resource guarding behaviors when out and about. She's a smart and motivated dog, currently about 50 pounds, and will make a fantastic canine partner for the right person(s). In the video with Semi, Lucy is wearing the BLUE collar. All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee for Lucy is a suggested minimum of $125 (more gratefully accepted). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts. Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to the Seattle area, delivering adopted pets to their new owners.
